Page Setup & Pages
Page Setup decides what kind of document you are working in: an unbounded canvas, a paged document with fixed paper sizes, a slide deck, or an HTML presentation. Open it from File > Page Setup.
Document modes
The Mode dropdown offers four options:
- Infinite Canvas (the default): no page boundaries, draw anywhere.
- Paged Document: fixed pages stacked vertically on the canvas.
- Slide Deck: fixed 16:9 or 4:3 slides, useful as a lightweight storyboard.
- Presentation (HTML): switches to the full presentation workspace. See Slides. When you switch into it from a slide deck that has drawings, Molkit offers to convert each canvas slide into a presentation slide.
Page size, orientation, and margins
In Paged Document mode, pick Letter, A4, A3, Legal, Tabloid, B5, Executive, or Custom with your own width and height in inches or millimeters. Orientation is Portrait or Landscape. Slide Deck mode swaps the list for Widescreen (16:9), Standard (4:3), or Custom, and hides orientation.
Margins come as presets (Normal, Narrow, Wide, None) or Custom per-edge values, all in inches. Two display checkboxes control whether page boundaries and margin guides draw on the canvas, and a live preview shows the page with its printable area. Apply commits everything in one undoable step; Reset to Defaults returns the dialog to infinite-canvas settings.
Working with multiple pages
In Paged Document mode a Pages panel appears on the left edge with a thumbnail per page.
- The + button in the panel header adds a page after the last one and jumps to it.
- Click a thumbnail to go to that page; the view zooms to fit it.
- Right-click a thumbnail for Duplicate, Rename, and Delete. Delete is unavailable when only one page remains; a document always has at least one page.
- Click the panel header to collapse or expand it.
Pages stack vertically on the canvas with a small gap between them, so you can also just scroll from one page to the next.
Navigating pages
PageDown and PageUp, or Ctrl+Down and Ctrl+Up, move to the next or previous page. The same shortcuts move between slides in Slide Deck mode. Page navigation is not recorded in undo history, so Ctrl+Z after paging undoes your last edit, not the page change.
Fit Page and Fit Width
View > Fit Page zooms so the current page fits the window; View > Fit Width fills the window’s width with the page and is the better choice for reading a tall document. Both items are greyed out in Infinite Canvas mode since there is no page to fit; Fit Page invoked from the command palette falls back to fitting the drawing content, while Fit Width does nothing without a page.
Pages and PDF export
The PDF export dialog pre-fills its paper size, orientation, and margins from Page Setup, and in Slide Deck mode each slide exports as its own PDF page. See PDF export.
